Lover of the written word, rules, and cheesecake.
Watcher of people, believer of actions, and writer of reality.
I have a thousand pieces of paper (well, ... almost!), and multiple journals (including a reMarkable device), where I jot down my thoughts and ideas.
Writing resumes and cover letters for more than 15 years.
Born in Manhattan with my twin brother who is a few minutes older than me. Three siblings in total. One older sister and one younger. One mini-me that stands taller than me by 2" (so yeah, I have to look up at her slightly). Married 11+ years to the man with the hazel eyes who is the polar opposite of me - content and laid-back.
I absolutely enjoy being with my family and spending time with my friends - a small but extremely successful, efficient, and skillfully and cleverly made army that would give any massive group of folks a run for their money.
I also enjoy some alone time.
Some of us don't realize just how calming it is to be immersed in moments of solitude.
(And I don't mean solitude whereby your photographer friend is taking photos of you in solitude for social media. That doesn't count!)
I wonder at times, how people meditate and are able to be meaningfully mindful, if they are around people and noise, living in chaos 24/7.
IN PROGRESS
Torchbearer pragmatism and servant leadership.
Knowledge, truth, and inspiration - subtextual governance rooted in reality and transparency.
I am so excited about this labor of love right here. I've interviewed so many clients/employees looking for another job, looking to get away from their present circumstances. And it hit me!
Whether we are sprouting roses, spitting bullets, or doing both in the same breath, we express what we express and then we get our heads back in the game.
We buckle down, brainstorm, and introduce (and execute) solutions.
The book is broken down into 3 groups:
Poems, One-Liners, and Provocative Prose.
Definitely not a poetry conventionalism construct!
Why?
Well, the goal was to match and mirror real life and pose relevant questions that elicit a response from the reader.
And frankly, is anything "normal" today?
Isn't it true that life and everything (well, almost everything) in it, evolves over time? At times, albeit temporarily, don't we feel disconnected, with life throwing unexpected and abrupt reality our way? Of course!
In the same spirit, so went the assemblance and design of volume 2.
IBPA Review:
"The poems reinforce familiar struggles and ideals."
"The poet has structured the book in a way that moves from micro poetry to illustrated quotations, leading into a final section that presents a chart of questions rather than additional poems. . . . This choice is intriguing, suggesting an attempt to engage the reader beyond passive consumption. The intention seems to be one of reflection, urging readers to consider their own beliefs and responses."
Talking to countless professionals over the years, particularly the underdogs, you hear a running theme of dissatisfaction and disappointment that can only be described in five (5) words - Gotta Be a Better Way. And, while it transcends the workplace to life in general, the workplace is ripe with experiences, epiphanies, and enlightenment about people, business, and overall human dynamics.
How many times have you privately said to yourself, there's gotta be a better way, while doing a tedious or uninspiring task? Or better yet, said that to yourself while watching someone stroke their ego to the detriment of the group/team?
Of course, the self-starters and professionals with the innate skills and abilities to navigate chaos while still maintaining that high level of optimism and confidence, are able to create those positive and rewarding experiences, and results, for both themselves and others.
12-weeks of sheer discipline, but we got it done!
If you haven't taken any continuing education courses, I encourage you to do so.
The real currency out here, as of late, is one's knowledge, emotional intelligence, ability to learn new skills and retrain, and a high level of discipline.
All of which working full-time and taking an evening course three nights a week, help you develop and professionally cement. What better way to do this then through CECs?
The course, the instructor, and my classmates were absolutely fabulous. The convergence of different backgrounds and experiences made for an eclectic, intoxicating, and creative atmosphere.
While I continue to write - resumes and books - my new love and new goal is to write, finish, and sell two screenplays (with more to come).
There are way too many professional stories to be told that speak to people's experiences and I look forward to successfully bringing some of these stories to the big (or small) screen. Stay tuned!
